Hmm, seems to only be on the American version of itunes which is no good for the rest of us. It is also on the US version of Amazon. I've tried buying the track from there, but it doesn't seem to like my UK address. Anyone else want to have a go? There's a 30 second sound clip you can listen to there.

Ok I 've also found it on Juno now. Alas I'm getting a message saying "Due to copyright restrictions you cannot buy this product in your country". Grr. However you can listen to the whole track on Juno's music player - albeit in 30 second increments. HERE.or HEREEdited by user 16 September 2015 00:47:21(UTC)

Sounds like grandpa in the disco. Exactly what I was afraid of. Very 90ies sounding, and not in a good way. Edited by user 16 September 2015 00:04:20(UTC)

Not terribly different to what I heard in San Francisco last year (apart from the addition of the backing diva, which makes it slightly worse in my opinion). I'd told myself those were draft lyrics that would be improved before release. Even still, the vocals and synths sound nice and many will be thrilled that they've embraced this sound again. As with Restless on the guitary side, there's a feeling they're not putting their best foot forward and have stronger synth based tracks waiting in the wings. Well the studio version sounds a little better than the live versions we have previously heard. It's not bad. 7/10 I guess. Might be better on a pumping stereo. When listening to the Juno player earler I thought there may have been a slight glitch but the same thing is present on the youtube clip. I mean the bit on youtube around 5.03. It's probably meant to sound like that but it sounds like a clunky edit to my ears.

Music sounds great, vocals are going to need a bit getting used to. At first listen I like the live vocals better, but we will see as time passes. The female vocals suck, but I never have been a fan of "world" and the chorus feels like World 2.0. I will give it much more listens in the next week.

Listened on the phone… hated it. Played it on the speakers… loved it.
I suppose that means it's an, at best, middling song, but with a great sound.
Perhaps it would be better as an instrumental.

Sounds pretty good really loud! i'm into the music definitely, not sure yet on vocals/melody. I do miss the NO rough edges though.

I love it!
They've given Plastic a much stronger 4/4 Disco beat than it had when they played it last year, and the synth baseline has def been beefed up.
I love it. Sounds like New Order meets Giorgio Moroder with some PSB and 90's Techno thrown in. Sounds fresh and contemporary especially as both Moroder and 90's Techno are in with the kids these days.
Unusual vocal from Bernard, kind of breathy and...sensual. But it nicely underscores the nastiness of the lyrics, which seem to be critical of current celebrity/self absorption culture and maybe Hooky as well.
I like the track a lot, easy to see why so many reviewers have praised it. Elly's backing vocal sounds good though it takes some getting used to.

Yeah that's what i thought about Bernard's vocal; breathy, slightly restrained (maybe even a bit low in the mix?) and sensual.Takes the nastiness of the lyric off a bit. But , erm, it's not Elly Jackson (La Roux) on the backing vocals i don't think..is it? A couple of posters have said that now.It doesn't sound anything like her if it is.

Someone else did vocals during the sessions… and it does sound like her… although I can't say anything else right now as it was a private conversation. No idea which tracks she ended up on, if any, but it does sound like her. So might well not be La Roux.

I could be wrong, but haven't several interviews and reviews with the band mentioned that Plastic is one of the songs Elly does vocals on? I could be wrong! Sure sounds like her.

.........mmmm. Production is fine, and it's what I expected from the reviews. I like the style of Bernard's vocal but - just like I remember from the odd clip of the live performances of Plastic - he hasn't come up with a particularly compelling melody for this one. 6/10 on first listen.
But, I thought the same about "Restless" initially and I'd give it an 8 now.

Preorder the album on iTunes, and the early tracks are free. You only need pay “once”.
“Complete my album” means that you could buy just the early tracks now, and then get the rest of the album after release with the price of those tracks knocked off. You only need pay “once”.
