Hello!
I found that super-detailed thread on the botched NO reissues over this past holiday and I bookmarked it, hoping to dig out my discs and compare what I have to the various reported versions.

Sadly the thread seems to be totally gone. All links and bookmarks are now dead and 20 minutes of searching was fruitless.

Does anyone know a way to access it or if it's at another site? Even if it's just the matrix number data.

Tried the discogs info pages but it's not as clear there.

Seems worth having on the internet as it was.

Cheers

I'm assuming as you're in the USA that you probably have the Rhino pressings so the matrices for the fixed bonus discs are below:

Z78709 3 R2 516185-2.2 RE-2 01 (Movement)
Z78767 3 R2 516186-2.2 RE-1 01 (Power, Corruption & Lies)
Z78707 3 R2 516184-2.2 RE-1 01 (Low-Life)
Z78705 3 R2 516183-2.2 RE-1 01 (Brotherhood)
Z78713 3 R2 516187-2.2 RE-1 01 (Technique)

If you have these then you have the corrected versions. The album discs were unaffected with the exception of Low-Life which they repressed along with the fixed bonus disc. There is definitely more detailed info on Discogs but it is per release page; they have the faulty versions, the fixed "2nd Editions" and even the individual bonus discs in their database.

Ever since these new forums were introduced in 2012 - specifically to counteract the crippling spam problem afflicting the previous forums - the old content was always due to be taken down at some point. Some of the more useful stuff may or may not be integrated into future versions of the site but that is dependant on what the owner Spotnick ultimately chooses to do with NOOL going forward. I believe improvement works, new designs and such like are being considered for some point in the future.

In the mean time if you've got any further questions on the Collector's Editions just fire away...

Since this topic was resurrected, I'll ask another question. Looking at the various Discogs entries, it appears that the UK/European pressings on London/Rhino UK were likewise finally corrected in 2009. Do the UK/European repressings still have the "Collector's Edition" clear plastic slipcase? Or did Warners skimp out on the repressings and not issue them with the slipcases?

Thanks,
Mike

No I don't think the UK/European 2nd Editions came with slipcases or at least mine didn't when I purchased them a couple of years ago. Each time I've been in HMV or other record stores over the past few years and glanced through the Collector's Editions in the New Order rack they're always simply digipaks shrink-wrapped with a sticker on the cellophane. The only time I see the older slipcase versions for sale is second-hand on Ebay and they could be the first batch with the duff bonus discs. The Joy Division ones also no longer seem to come with slipcases.

It may not be a Warners only thing because I picked up a Deluxe Edition copy of Pulp's "Different Class" a few months ago expecting a slipcase as per its Discog entry. What I got was (presumably) the same digipack but instead of the slipcase it had this line of "Deluxe Edition" tape sealing the package which I had to literally cut with scissors to open. The recent Deluxe Edition of "Dubnobasswithmyheadman" by Underworld had the same thing. I purchased both brand new from Amazon.

The slipcases were a nice touch but perhaps labels collectively phased them out due to cost or something.

Sadly I don't think it is a Warner-only thing. Most of the (excellent) Cure re-issues in my collection have the proper slipcase, but the later ones I've picked up (the head on the door & the top) don't, even worse, they have a naff sticker-wrap around the bottom where the tinted 'deluxe' bit is on the slipcases.

Pretty sure the first release of THOTD reissue had a proper slipcase.
