I may have missed one of the Human League vids, but TBH, I'm not a big fan of those old Top of The Pops style clips. Watching 'artists' blatantly mime to their records while the crowd claps along just makes me cringe deeply. It's so fake it's horrible. I used to love TOTPs when I was a kid. Now? Thank god it's gone.
I realise the above is rather ironic since a certain band that this website relates to is pretty well known for not playing everything live even when they are playing live. But also rather ironically, said band was I think the first to play live on TOTPs. ...And it was shit.

Currently reading the book Rip It Up And Start Again: Post Punk 1978-1984 by Simon Reynolds. It's been on my shelf for years but finally got round to it.A bit of flat read in places but some sections of it are superb.Just finished the section on the 1981-1982 "New Pop" era and was reminded of many, many wonderful songs.I remember a certain period from late 1981 to around summer 1982 when there was an endless run of amazing singles by acts like Altered Images, The Associates,Orange Juice, Soft Cell amongst many others. Just pure pop gold. Love the way Clare Grogan blows a kiss at the end of this

Why does it seem like i know this song but had never heard before the other day? Has it been sampled or the chorus nicked by some dance oriented artist in recent years? I reckon Goldfrapp nicked that electronic bassline for their track 'Number 1' Chris And Cosey 'October Love Song'

Chris And Cosey 'October Love Song'
Is this what you're thinking? Not strictly sampling, or even the exact synth, but you never know... [YOUTUBE]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_m2Jmi7kXUTUBE] Oh i see what you mean with the opening synth sound but i was thinking more of the chorus and vocals

Wow, great find, Debaser.I enjoyed that but it's a French cover version(?) rather than a song that dishonestly rips off the Chris & Cosy original.I've just got this itch in my head that there was some dance track that just used October Love Song's chorus lyrics to form a 90s or 2000s dance track.I'm coming round though to the probability that there never was some such track and i have probably just in fact actually heard the Chris & Cosy song sometime or other many years ago and it lodged somewhere deep in the recesses.Probably on something like the old Annie Nightingale Sunday evening Radio 1 request show in the mid 80s.She would definitely have played that kind of thing and i was a big fan of her show at that time.

Liking the song (Old 45s by the brilliant Chromeo) Very catchy chorus.i like the sexy chick and Haim also make a cool cameo appearance but i don't get the video after it gets to the bit when the music stops for a while halfway through and the geeky lad walks in.
