Superb!

Sounds great to me. Better than "Singularity". It seems their best electronic/dance oriented track since "Here to Stay".

I like it; dancey and electronica-ish (too be honest Hooky's noodling bass was getting a bit boring towards the end of his era). Hopefully they can sort out the legal crap and finally be free to release some of this new stuff. Maybe they should officially rename themselves as newordernow so that a certain mr. grumpy pants can be ignored?

Not bad. They're all growers anyway. It's interesting that they've done a guitarie newbie and now a synthie newbie.

I will be waiting until the new album is out...

I don't know, something is just lost to me on this song. The atmospherics in the beginning are pretty fantastic, but then the song settles into something...I dunno, it doesn't feel fair to call it generic but is does come off as being flat. Maybe stale even.

And this is minor but the song is pretty long which usually works beyond compare with New Order but this song is long just for the sake of being long. It doesn't develop into anything.

I am getting a little (and I do mean a little) worried. I liked Singularity when I first heard it, didn't like it, liked it again and in retrospect don't really like it, though I feel it has some very strong moments.

But Plastic is just...boring. I don't think I've ever described a New Order song as boring. Even their bad songs usually have something in them to pique that nebulous, romance-seeking part of the soul. But again I will reserve proper judgement until I hear some sort of final version.

Both tracks sound like B-sides, Singularity from Get Ready and Plastic from WFTSC.

(Barney introduced Singularity as "Drop the Guitar" in SF, pretty funny.)

I'm not expecting anything great from NewOrderNow - the best bands just about always have a strong creative partnership (often a tempestuous one) at their core, and if that partnership breaks up the quality of the songwriting goes down (see: Lennon-McCartney, Plant-Page, Astbury-Duffy, McCulloch-Sergeant etc etc etc). I suspect NO will be no different - Barney and Hooky may have found each other aggravating, but I think they needed that friction.

in all honesty, i loved both of these on first listen
just seemed natural to me, more "unearthed songs" than forced ones that n.o. and other bands may have popped out along the way
pretty much exactly what i wanted from new order right now, but not in a hugely predictable way or anything
i'd say the break from hooky more was an unfortunate but creative spark if anything, gave 'em something to be shaken up by and maybe they'll have a feeling of having something to prove now beside being able to play their best-charting singles

LLNO
