what is everyone going to see this year?

despite liking all my favourite bands on facebook and following them all on twitter, i inevitably miss out on good gigs and then am a bit cross about it. do share, please, so i can nick all your ideas.

this year i shall be going to see throwing muses, john grant, lanterns on't lake and someone else who i have forgotten.

Well I don't know where I'm going but I know where I've been, as Talking Heads didn't say. (Some of the festival acts will doubtless be doing their own tours.)

Where I've been:

I Break Horses (Village Underground, London)
Fuck Buttons (Forum, London)

FIELD DAY FESTIVAL (where I saw...)
John Hopkins
War Paint
Arthur Beatrice
Erol Alkan b2b Daniel Avery (dj set)
Jamie XX (dj set)
Jagwar Ma
Thurston Moore (of Sonic Youth. Solo album soon, sounds good from this performance)
Simian Mobile Disco (new album on the way)
Fat White Family (what a find! raucous, ramshackle fun)
Woman's Hour
All We Are
Pawws
Justin Robertson (dj set)
The Horrors
Pixies
Future Islands (watch this Letterman perfomance. ALL of it: Seasons. See also The Guardian)

CAMDEN CRAWL (one wristband, two days, 20 venues, see as many acts as you can).
Cymbals
Thumpers
Atari Teenage Riot
D/R/U/G/S
Laurel Halo
Yuck
ABC
Grumbling Fur (Tim Burgess to guest on forthcoming album)
Society
Dry The River
Au Revoir Simone
Of Montreal
God Damn (they ROCKKK!)
Mouse on Mars (unbelievably loud German electronica/techno)

Did I say ABC? That ABC? Yep. In Koko, formerly Camden Palace, where Martin Fry pointed out they filmed part of this video. The deep red paintwork is still in place, but the chandelier has long been replaced by (allegedly) the largest mirrorball in Europe.

Oh I tried to get Kate Bush tickets and failed. I reckon they'll release more nearer the time, so there's still a chance...
