I thought it was quite funny when I heard it mentioned on Xfm today. They suggested it should be a degree in falling out with your band-mates. But I would be quite embarrassed to admit I was taking this course at University level. Maybe a short vocational course or something... Here's St Etienne's Bob Stanley's opinion: http://www.telegraph.co....-bound-to-lack-soul.htmlEdited by user 26 June 2012 11:56:39(UTC)

I liked the commentary in the Telegraph. I think Hooky has good intentions but I'm not sure if it'll be successful. Of course I don't wish him ill, but the commentary made good points.

it's ludicrous. actually, it's fucking outrageous, at a time when universities should be concentrating on genuine quality in exchange for the 9k they're whizzing from young people, that something like this can emerge. this, then, is modern academia, is it? jesus.
and bob s makes some excellent points, yes. Edited by user 26 June 2012 18:56:59(UTC)

Well, the people that are desperate enough to apply for this course---they will reap what they sow. Realistically, how many people would apply? How many would 'graduate'? How many of those graduates would be successful in one way or another? Surely, he may have good advice on what NOT to do, but like the commentary in the Telegraph said, there's no 'rulebook'. Hooky kept on talking about 'soul'. The Stone Roses 'I wanna be adored' had that lyric 'I don't have to sell my soul. He's already in me.' I think Hooky has already sold his soul, even though he seems to have good intentions with this project/course.
