Morrissey has written an autobiography which seems to be a bit of a sledge fest according to this newspaper article.

Anyone here read it? I wonder if Barney cops a spray...

I've read most of it (or rather I'm at 91% according to my Kindle app) and I've spotted one reference to Ian Curtis, one reference to New Order (not individually) and three or four references to the late Tony Wilson. The Curtis one is barely a sentence with Moz indicating they briefly spoke on the telephone before either were in bands (quite neutral). The New Order mention is more derogatory, Moz indicates a Manc crowd reacted better to The Smiths than to "Wilson's proteges" at a city festival despite The Smiths being lower on the bill. The later AHW stuff is pretty derogatory with lots of "two-faced" accusations being made, there was clearly no love lost between the pair especially towards the end of Wilson's life.

The book is entertaining but bits of it veer into Partridge-esque territory I.e. lots of "needless to say I had the last laugh". Marr is praised as a great songwriter and musician but around the '96 court case Moz loses all warmth towards him as well. I was very surprised to see so much apparent derision of Alain Whyte who is arguably Mozzer's best post-Smiths co-writer.

Yes i've read it.Posted some of my thoughts on it on a thread i started on it over on Behind Closed Doors. I mostly liked it apart from ,as i said on the other thread, the court case stuff which i skipped most of in the end.

Am reading it at the moment. The section about Rough Trade and Geoff Travis is a hoot.

But my favourite line so far is this one about the clientele at the opening night of the Hacienda: "...disfigured disco dancers and goblinesque pork-pie chubbos with carroty-red curls smelling of pickled pig who claimed the Hacienda as their own public toilet."

Comedy GOLD!
