stop what you are doing immediately and listen to this, please.too good to get buried in other threads, i made it one of its own. (so good i will even overlook the try-hard typewriter at the start.) Edited by user 08 June 2013 04:36:28(UTC)

I stopped everything i was doing and listened. Well i didn't so much stop everything i was doing, more didn't get started what i have to do which is A LOT. I'm seriously procrastinating today.
Struggling to form an opinion of the song, which i take no pleasure in saying. I didn't not like it but i wasn't mad on it either. The pure cream vinyl startled me a bit though.

i like the guitar "ripples", which no doubt have a proper name that i don't know.
i've listened to it seventeen times now. i hope this isn't going to be summer camp all over again (california-style rock n roll with one stand-out track, which i overplay until i feel sick).

Might be going a bit strong on the retro look. Eye catching but perhaps not sustainable in the long run. Pleasant in a Camera Obscura sort of way.

You beat me to it with the Camera Obscura reference, this other band seem somehow contrived, but at least it prompted me to listen to French Navy again.. But on such a fantastic summers day as this we can be lenient with those twins I suppose..

I see Camera Obscura have a new album out soon. Heard a song called Sorry I Missed Your Party or something the other day. Didn't feel it was as strong as songs like French Navy or the brilliant Swans

french navy sounds too much like embarrassment by madness for me. i prefer razzle dazzle rose. or tears for affairs. oooh, or teenager, with the tremendous lyric "uncomplaining as a tree". and a THEREMIN. Edited by user 08 June 2013 12:53:06(UTC)

thanks, yes, there is some reverb, i think, but that's not the bit i mean. my son tells me the rippleyness is just the strumming/plucking. (he is also shaking his head sadly and saying they're a massive rip-off of best coast...) i just noticed the vid is directed by joy newell and styled by promise newell. sisters? called joy and promise? MY daughters will be called misery and betrayal. Edited by user 11 June 2013 23:24:09(UTC)
