kim gordon talks about her split from thurston moore (and he sounds like a right twat)

incidentally, they once played buskers in the gilmore girls. also, there was a posh lady in a much later episode called mrs thurston-moore, which made me laugh then, and makes me laugh now.

"Her interest in Karen Carpenter and Madonna lent them depth", really?
Not sure I would agree with that, I think both are far more interesting characters than de facto professor of modern feminist pop mystique Kim Gordon..
I'm suprised she isn't a vegan actually..
I saw them live in 1991 when they were supported by Nirvana- a gig everyone in Cork claims to have been at....

never got into Sonic Youth. I REALLY don't know why.they always completely passed me by.maybe because they were American ( or Canadian? dunno) and i was always more patriotic towards the JAMC when it came to feedback guitar .Mind you , My Bloody Valentine always also passed me by so fuck knows.

Just got bored reading the article. And the fucking Elle advert that attacked my screen. Thurston could not keep his pants on around another woman.

I used to love Sonic Youth but tired of them when Cool Thing or whatever came out, the lp with Chuck D on it. When was that, 1987? I will play Bad Moon Rising on Halloween night. That's it. Have not listened to any of their new material since then. Don't know anyone who does yet they are treated like gods.

I got to see them once on the Sister tour. Great show. Managed to get up front. One arm around a bouncer and one around a girl I just met with 500 people crushing us from behind. Awesome. That's how I want to remember them.

Now that I thought about it, 20 years of marriage down the drain. I can understand Bernard and Ian fooling around at the start of their success but after success and 20 years of marriage WTF happened? What lead him astray?

seriously? ego/weakness/selfishness/immaturity. the thrill and novelty of a fawning girl twenty years his junior. pathetic. it's just the rock n roll version of a man running off with his secretary.

Maybe 20 years of marriage is exactly what led him astray..Not that I am trying to justify his actions...

Nora, you are right, no excuse, but a band that is just emerging is more likely to fall into the excesses of R&R than a band that has been around for 32 years.
