Following a discussion on Facebook, and the poor planning of the recent Stone Roses gigs @ Heaton Park Manchester, a dedicated group has been set up to campaign to improve safety at Large music Concerts. The Facebook Group is as follows : https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/131347977006175/ I URGE everyone to join the group then we can get legislation changed to protect vulnerable people at gigs and improve safety and ensure that gig promoters comply with current safety legislation. We want to ensure people who buy tickets to events are safe and can get home in all circumstances. We suggest the following ideas are implemented to any future outdoor music events. Adequate lighting at all exits. Help points within and outside the venue, providing assistance for people who are lost or disorientated, providing phone, water facilities and clothing/blankets if necesary. A mobile help-point (bus) for citycentre events in parks where people could easily become lost, that can circle the perimiter. These help desks/mobile units must remain until all crowds have been dispursed. Nominated staff wearing bright clothing and offering help to anyone who needs it in the event and outside. Meeting points clearly highlighted at the event and on maps sent out with tickets. Event to have a phone charging area available free of charge. Advice sent to ticket buyers about safety in numbers, staying with friends, pre arranging meeting points, exchanging numbers, and having these numbers on paper in your pocket or on a paper wrist band. A map of the venue, local transport links, gate numbers and meeting points should be included. A missing persons text line to send messages to people in the crowds, or for people to send messages to.(can ticket companies register all ticket holdres mobiles to this service) Large screens to be used to advertise missing people at events in intervals. A wall where people can attach missing people posters near a main enterance and exit point. Coach companys to provide all event goers with a card with the bus number, destination and a contact number for the company prior to them leaving the coach for the event. In the case of someone reporting a friend missing immediate action to be taken by radioing all security and making a message available over the PA/big screens, an action plan of reporting the incident to family, police and other athorities must be available in these circumstances. Big Scrrens/PA to highlight where to find help if you have been seperated from friends at the end of events. A hotline for people to report sightings of anyone missing from an event, and a facebook page requesting help set up with families consent. A missing peoples page to be put on any event where someone has gone missing, publicity from the event organisers as and when requested by the family. Large maps of the venue, surrounding area and transport links, inside and outside the event, with a "you are here" arrow. at all exits. All security staff to be trained to help anyone in distress, or lost, all staff to be trained and familiar with the event location, exit points and surrounding area. She forgot antiseptic handwash, someone to massage sore feet and hot sausage roll for the long walk home as well. Dear God...whats the world coming to. Plus another tenner on top for your ticket. The only SHITE thing about Heaton Park apart from the singing was those daft barriers they put up down the front for the 1st 10 thousand...what a load of pc bullshit. They fucking best not do that at Hyde park this summer. In their eyes the early ones arriving (ie at 2pm ish) are the more hardcore fans. utter bollocks..just the freeloading twats who dont work. No normal bloke would go that early to an all day festival.

Well no, this is a response to a one off incident which no one could've predicted.
Years ago, the organisation "Love Not Riots" tried to do a similar thing in which they would become some kind of spokespeople for festival and gig goers where they would basically eradicate all fun in the name of safety. Thankfully, people called them on this bullshit and they fucked off.
And the same should happen here. And I've noticed this group has been deleted. And rightly so.

And the same should happen here. And I've noticed this group has been deleted. And rightly so. And I think most venues and festivals already take basic steps to ensure safety. If somebody expects the venues/organisers to do more, then maybe they shouldn't be going to gigs and events.
