Valuations confuse me somewhat. I understand WFTSC and GR original vinyl are expensive as there were not many pressed. What confuses me more is when I see the CDVs going for only £20 (there cannot be many of those) but WFTSC CD Single for over £60. Why is WFTSC single so pricey?

Crikey.Yes i can see WFTSC cd single on ebay for £62 and WFTSC vinyl for £113.I have both of those. The WFTSC vinyl that i bought in 2005 isn't in the greatest condition these days and the cd single is so so.I've got the True Faith CDV.I see the David Nolan book on Bernard is now on ebay for just £12-£13 whereas at one time it was on there for £300 or something mad.

But , to answer your question, no i can't explain any of the prices.

The main way the WFTSC single was pushed at the time (the triple 7" set) made the 2 track CD appear as a total afterthought so it's probably also down to a small amount manufactured. It was just a poorly executed, hotch potch of a single by the label. There were some quality remixes commissioned for it which never properly saw the light of day outside of highly limited/extortionately priced promo CDRs. Tracks like the Butterich EGG and Planet Funk's WFTSC the latter of which the band are actually playing live now (!) but a fan who post-gig decides to buy the mix er... can't. Crazy. It would be nice to see those WFTSC single mixes properly compiled and re-released at some point alongside the Tribute Mix.

I remember the CDVs were worth about 50 quid a decade ago but their value has definitely gone down. I had some problems finding Blue Monday 1988 (with the alternate 7" mix) but the True Faith one never seems to be off second hand sites. Again, there are probably simply more out there now thanks to t'interweb. Now the Factory DATs (JD Substance, NO Substance & Technique) are as rare as hen's teeth at the moment. Never seen those.

They do show up on the 'bay sometimes, perhaps once a year or so. Technique more than the others.

It is odd how some previous near-holy grails do emerge regularly now. And somewhat annoying if you spent many years hunting them down. Unfortunately a lot of the gear that fetches the highest prices now are GR/WFTSC-era CD promos and studio CDRs. Which I often find a little dull. Certainly no comparison to having a Run 2 in your hands back in the day.

First I've seen of the WFTSC CDS fetching that sort of cash but there's a couple on Discogs around that mark too. Sometimes you regret not buying two of everything.

I have both the original GR and WFTSC vinyl editions and I'll probably grab the represses as well. Just because, well, you know.
